Round Top Spring Antique Fest 2014
It’s that time again, Round Top Antique fest is here from 3/21-4/6. For more information, please visit the excellent Round Top Commerce page, see below http://www.roundtop.org/antique_show_info.php Please be sure to bring your cameras. We have been catching a few glimpse of Indian Brush already this year. Given the rainfall this winter, we should have pretty decent blue bonnets showing too.

Round Top Antique Fair – Fall 2013 week 1
First week is free shows bananza. Just came back from Blue Hills and Arbor, two of our favorite venues. We met some of the dealers staying in our cabins and got lots of furnishing, color scheme, and recent trend ideas for our own house back home in Houston. We also heard Ang Lee (Academy movie direcotr of Life of Pi and Crouching Tiger Hidden Drago) will be the sole honorary VIP preview at Marburger Show, before general crowds set in. Lots of great items to see and educate your family. You will not be able to go through even 1/4th of the show in 3 days. Come on down now…

Tents are up!
Just got back from our cabins. Everything is looking great! We stopped by Royer’s to pay Bud a visit at his café. The tents are ready for the Fall season shows, and the town sure is getting busier. Back at the cabins, the owner put in energy efficient heat pump ACs and LED flat screens in couple of the cabins. And the main log cabin is looking as nice as ever with those new modern tiled shower with frameless glass door. As this is the first time that Rocking Horse Retreat comes back from a long hiatus, we want to be sure our guests will enjoy their stay with us…

Reserve Now
Our four cabins are almost all gone. We have vacancy in Main Log Cabin for the first weekend of Fall Antique Fair and Kalina’s Kottage for Friday and Saturday night of the second weekend. You are not going to be able find that much space and amenities for anywhere near this price around here. Reserve now and tell your friends about us. Or keep it a secret and just keep coming back!

Mission Accomplished!!!
Site is now fully functional with all rooms rented to either antique dealers or visitors for almost the entire duration of Fall 2013 season. Although there might still be some more changes coming, these changes will likely be updates, cosmetic, or for organizational reasons. Oh yes, there will be more links to local attractions and restaurants to help with our local businesses. On the other hand, I did however added Facebook and Tripadvisor. Twitter is next as well as a more economoically viable web payment system that won’t cost us and our guests an arm and a leg. I am still deciding on whether to put a few ads or…

More updates
New photo thumbnail galleries were put in each cabin webpage. In additional additional colors, emphasis were added to make it easier to read. And, don’t forget about new pages on Guest Book, Our Policy, and Directions. I have also added a photo of us in About Us. So you have some idea who is working behind the scene. Please let me know all improvement ideas! Thanks in advance!

Almost there!!!
Improved the background with some blue bonnets and Indian paintbrushes. Worked on browser compatibility all day. Still have some minor issues with one of the gallery plugins. Lastly, just added in cabins rates and information. Once I get through policies and add in more local happenings, then I am done. Yeah!

Round Top Cabins website ideas
Still going back and forth about how to best build our website. So far, Andy and I settled on using WordPress Responsive theme as the foundation, although he continues exploring other theme options. Lately, Andy has been spending a lot of time finding and experimenting the most compatible reservation system and event calendar that work well out of the box. Even the tiny little home page widget weather RSS caused him lots of headache…
